Assistance from a HUD approved housing counselor is FREE - Do not pay for loan modification!  It is a SCAM.  I reccomend the CCCS Atlanta.  Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Atlanta.  They are a not for profit group that will help you.  There are myths out there that if you talk to them your credit score will drop.  This is not true the credit bureaus do not touch your credit score for speaking to a credit counselor.  They do sometimes give you a hit on your score when you enter into a credit card debt management program but nothing will happen to your credit score for calling CCCS.
